Exposed Steel Connections

Steel plates are attached to the exterior of the timbers as part of this connection method.

Timber structures with exposed steelwork, often painted black, have been around for a couple of centuries.  Black steel and the warmth of timber is an attractive combination.  The shape of the steel plates are only limited by our imagination as the industry has a range of tools such as CNC machines and plasma cutters that can cut almost any shape a designer can come up with.
