Post and Beam Frames
‘Timberframing’, also known as ‘post and beam construction’ or even ‘green-oak framing’, is the use of heavy timbers to provide the structure of a building. The timbers are commonly exposed and therefore celebrated for their aesthetic form. Buildings have been constructed using these methods across the globe for centuries and have primarily remained the same, though are perhaps built a little quicker these days. Some modern designs, however, allow a fusion of traditional methods with modern materials resulting in an ever-widening palette of styles.
At Timberworks, we aim to ‘create buildings less ordinary’. Our client’s vision is the only limit to what can be achieved. We work closely with client and architect from the initial concept design stage right through to the raising of the structure on-site ensuring the potential to include character and beauty in the finished building. Everything is hand-crafted by our skilled workforce in our workshop in Ruby Bay.
All Timberworks frames are unique. Simply put, we provide two options; a truly bespoke frame, effectively starting from scratch with a blank piece of paper; or a frame loosely based around one of the frames already designed by Timberworks. Please follow the two links below for more information and examples.
